EARS RINGING-

Here’s day two from Miami this week.

If anyone has ever doubted the potential for electronic/house music to become a mainstream phenomenon in the United States, I’d like to point out 500,000 fist pumping maniacs who would disagree.

Swedish House Mafia Masquerade Motel. Best show of the week.

Then upstairs for the 4AM Showcase at the Soho House rooftop. Price’s showcase took the show with a set showcasing never before heard original music, edits, and re-edits.

BACK TO MIAMI-

We’re back in Miami for the Ultra Music Festival and the 2012 Winter Music Conference. From here on out you can just assume there’s a DJ in front of any mention of any name.

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY-

The new craze on Instagram these days is a weekly hashtag called #ThrowbackThursday in which people share their old photos and the stories behind them.

Seeing as how we’ve had multiple websites and thousands of lost photos and blog updates through the years, we thought we’d participate and share some of our memorable moments for those of you who have started following us more recently.

J.Patt of the Knocks in our Spring 2008 lookbook. Just took at the look at the lineup for Ultra Music Conference in Miami this weekend and saw that they were headlining the main stage on Saturday. Whoa. Black/White baitcaster flannel still my favorite Reason shirt of all time. This was before people started throwing around the term ‘pop-color’ all the time.

The New Era that launched a thousand ships. Original Piratehat R Rope Logo. Instant sellout. Wish I still had one of these myself.

And after.
Clean lines, white space, minimalist design. A far reach from the aesthetic at our current store. This was the store that gave us the guts and inspiration to do the way we’ve always imagined.

Nobody saw this one coming. 2008 brand of the year as voted by the readers of URB magazine, beating out Nike, 10Deep, and New Era.

SCOPE ART SHOW 2012-

This year we had the opportunity to participate in the 2012 Scope Art Show as official media sponsors. Scope is one of the premier art fairs in the world, steadily continuing to steal the spotlight from the other mammoth shows in the industry.

Aside from this awesome ad in the official Scope Magazine, we also contributed Reason gift bags and promo items for VIP guests.

Here are my photos from the show. Apologies in advance because I didn’t write down any of the artist names-

#SXSW PART IV-

Here’s part four of Zak’s updates from SouthbySouthwest. Did I mention we will be releasing a special ZakDowntown vs. Reason Clothing tee exclusively in our Online Shop and at the Outpost in the coming week?

Woke up late. Had mexican food for breakfast at 5pm. This spot gave us free food all week. Hit the Warner show which was dope. We caught Theophilus London, Santi, Outasight, Chuckie and Flux Pavillion. I also did a interview segment with Pop Up Video (Pop Spot) which should air sometime in May, so look out for that.

COUNTDOWN-

Sabrina dropped by the Outpost today to show off her brand new kitten and pick up some GunsGerms$teal gear for a shoot. Sabrina actually lives on 9th street a few doors down from the shop and used to pop in every day during renovations. One day in the midst of construction she suggested we check out her friends line called GG$ and when we did we unanimously agreed that their brand would be one of the only non-reason labels available in the shop. The SWAG wallets are a fan favorite and best seller in store. Click Here to check out their online store.

Another drop in from Scott Sasso, the creative director and founder at 10DEEP. A mentor, a friend, and one of the most artistically talented people working in this business.

LIVE FROM AUSTIN-

I should probably be embarrassed that ZakDowntown is a better blogger than me, right? Without further ado, day three from #SXSW from Zak and the crew-

We didn’t have any shows yesterday so we got to explore a bit. Hit some BBQ spot, our first of the trip.  Then we went to the Skype event where Neon Trees and RJD2 were performing. We ended the day by hitting a Dada Life show, which was BANANAS. I did a show with them in Arizona and they’re always crazy. People are reaaallllly wild at those electro/dubstep shows. Days are long out here. Advil on deck.

ALWAYS DOWN-

Here’s part two of ZakDowntown’s guest blog from SXSW-

Yesterday was our first official day down in Austin. The whole aura down here is pretty cool. DJ Fresh Direct and TJ Mizell spun all day at this day-time jumpoff and I hopped on and did a small set. Also played beer pong over the dj booth which in hindsight sounds like a pretty bad idea. We got to catch our friends Hoodie Allen and RJ do their thang, and then we hit the Virgin Mobile live house. Also got a crazy response on the Go Love Your Own City tee my manager was wearing, and ran through all the stickers and cards Reason gave us.
